The Sun Prairie Optimist Club’s Graduating High School Senior Scholarships are designed to support and encourage local students as they take the next step in their educational journey. These scholarships recognize students who demonstrate academic effort, community involvement, service to others, and a commitment to making a positive difference—values that reflect the Optimist mission of bringing out the best in youth and our community.
About Orville Frank
Orville Frank was a dedicated, charter member of the Sun Prairie Optimist Club. He was a long-time resident of Sun Prairie and a retired veteran who exemplified service, commitment, and community pride. Orville passed away in 2020, and we are proud to continue honoring his legacy through these scholarships.
2026 Scholarship Offerings
The Sun Prairie Optimist Club is pleased to announce its Graduating High School Senior Scholarships for the current academic year. In keeping with our mission of supporting youth and education in our community, we are offering seven (7) $500 scholarships in honor, and in the name of, Orville Frank.
- 3 – $500 scholarships for graduating seniors from Sun Prairie East High School
- 3 – $500 scholarships for graduating seniors from Sun Prairie West High School
- 1 – $500 scholarship for a graduating senior from Prairie Phoenix Academy
Application Review Criteria
Scholarship applications are reviewed holistically, with consideration given to the following:
- Academic Performance: Cumulative grade point average and overall commitment to academic success.
- Post-Graduation Goals: Clarity of goals after high school, planned education, choice of institution, and how those plans support future aspirations.
- Service to Others: Involvement in supporting children, youth, or individuals in need within the Sun Prairie community, and the impact of that service.
- Extracurricular Involvement: Participation in school and community activities, including leadership, dedication, and personal growth.
- Honors and Recognition: Awards, achievements, or special recognition that reflect effort, character, or accomplishment.
- Character and Responsibility: References from non-family adults who can speak to the applicant’s character, reliability, and contributions.

The deadline to submit the application below is Saturday, January 31st at midnight.
Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.
